The Lagos State chapter of the Federation of Muslim Women’s Associations in Nigeria (FOMWAN) proudly participated in the just-concluded FOMWAN National 40th Anniversary and 2025 Annual National Conference, held in Kaduna State from Tuesday, August 19 to Saturday, August 24, 2025.
The landmark conference, themed “Empowering Muslim Women in the Face of Climate Change: Building Resilience, Sustainability, and Community Development While Showcasing FOMWAN’s Achievements,” brought together Muslim women leaders, stakeholders, and delegates from across Nigeria to reflect on FOMWAN’s four decades of impact, and to discuss solutions to pressing societal and environmental challenges.
The Lagos State delegation actively engaged in workshops, strategic planning sessions, and networking opportunities that addressed women’s roles in climate action, education, entrepreneurship, and grassroots development. The conference also highlighted FOMWAN’s legacy as a faith-driven organization championing women’s empowerment, Islamic education, and community service for over 40 years.

The Lagos State Amirah was honored as the Best Performing Amirah in Nigeria 🇳🇬.
The Lagos State Chapter of FOMWAN was awarded “Best State in Community Development and Humanitarian Services.”
These awards stand as a testament to Lagos FOMWAN’s consistent commitment to impactful projects that uplift communities, empower women, and foster sustainable development across the state.
🌍 International Presence
Adding further prestige to the anniversary, the conference was graced by distinguished international bodies and representatives from the United Kingdom, United States, Chad, Ghana 🇬🇭, The Gambia 🇬🇲, and others, underscoring FOMWAN’s growing influence on the global stage.
🙏 Youth Representation and Spiritual Closing
One of the key moments of the conference was the closing dua led by Khulthum Hamza, a vibrant youth representative of Lagos FOMWAN, who prayed for continued unity, growth, and impact for FOMWAN at all levels. The heartfelt prayer symbolized Lagos FOMWAN’s commitment to nurturing the next generation of Muslim women leaders.
As the curtains closed on this historic gathering, Lagos State FOMWAN reaffirmed its dedication to advancing the organization’s mission, strengthening sisterhood, and driving positive change in line with Islamic values.
With gratitude, the chapter thanked Allah for the success of the event, while acknowledging the hospitality of Kaduna State and the efforts of the National Executive Council for organizing a memorable anniversary celebration.
