The Federation of Muslim Women’s Associations in Nigeria (FOMWAN), Lagos State chapter, has appointed a new Executive Cabinet to steer the affairs of the organisation for the new administrative term.
The 19-member cabinet, announced in June 2026, draws its membership from across the state’s local government areas, reflecting FOMWAN’s broad grassroots presence in Lagos — from Amuwo and Eti-Osa to Agege, Alimosho, and Ikorodu axis communities.
Leading the new cabinet is Alhaja Amudat Olanipekun of Amuwo, who assumes office as the State Amirah. She will be assisted by Alhaja Saadat Afolabi of Eti-Osa, who takes up the position of State Naiba (Deputy Amirah).
Dr Rayhanat Sanni-Davies of Oshodi-Isolo emerges as the new General Secretary of the chapter. She will be supported by two assistants: Alhaja Serifat Amisu (Ikeja) as Assistant General Secretary I and Alhaja Kudrah Ogunmuyiwa (Oshodi-Isolo) as Assistant General Secretary II.
The organisation’s public communications will be handled by Dr Mulkah Ajagun-Ogunleye of Surulere, who was named Public Relations Officer (P.R.O.), with Alhaja Rashidat Yakubu of Amuwo serving as Assistant P.R.O.
On the financial wing, Alhaja Shakirat AbdulSalam of Mainland was appointed Treasurer, while Alhaja Sekinat Liadi of Oriade takes charge as Financial Secretary. The accounts of the association will be overseen by Alhaja Rihannat Opatola of Mushin as Internal Auditor, assisted by Alhaja Salmat Raji of Olorunda LCDA.
The legal affairs of the chapter will be managed by Barrister Mutiat Orolu of Eti-Osa as Legal Officer I, with Barrister Balkis Sholanke-Junaid of Olorunda LCDA serving as Assistant Legal Officer.
In keeping with FOMWAN’s core mission of propagating Islam and empowering Muslim women, Alhaja Moridiya Sodeeq of Ifako-Ijaye was appointed Da’wah Officer, supported by Alhaja Nurat Akinwumi of Agege as Assistant Da’wah Officer.
The cabinet is completed by four Ex-Officio members: Alhaja Serifat Oluwatoyin Ajagbe (Alimosho), Dr Fadeelat Iyanda (Mainland), Alhaja Ramotalah Olaniyan (Amuwo), and Dr Halimah Sadia Egberongbe (Mainland).
Founded in 1985, FOMWAN is the umbrella body of Muslim women’s associations in Nigeria, with chapters across the country’s 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory. The organisation is known for its work in education, health, da’wah, women’s empowerment, and humanitarian outreach.
The new Lagos State executives are expected to build on the achievements of their predecessors and advance the federation’s mission of uplifting Muslim women and their communities across the state.
